Before founding Kring Lerner Group, Karen was Assistant Director of Media Relations for Illinois Institute of Technology and New Media Manager at the Community Media Workshop where her expertise as a photojournalist, photo editor, online content producer, designer, media relations specialist and project manager all came into play.
She co-founded PICTURE THIS Projects, a philanthropic group of photographers, journalists and community members creating and supporting photo projects that encourage creative expression, self-esteem and bridging the gap between people of different backgrounds.
She’s worked for the Chicago Tribune, Pioneer Press and other STNG newspapers, Catalyst, Associated Press, Rockford Register Star and other news outlets and publishers.
