Joel Lerner has been making photos of people’s high points, low points and everyday’s moments since buying his first camera with his bar mitzvah money. Besides serving as managing partner for Kring Lerner Group, he shoots for Pioneer Press and the Sun-Times Media Group. He co-owns Sportpics.com, an internet-based company photographing young athletics in action.
Previously, he shot sport regularly for the Chicago Sun-Times. While well-known for his sport photography, he’s won as many awards for this feature images.
Besides Pioneer’s weeklies and Sun-Times Media Group’s dailies, his work has appeared in Sports Illustrated, ESPN magazine, Chicago Tribune and numerous other publications.
He participated in the America 24/7 project in 2003.
His labors of love include photographing the Transplant Games and doing photo projects with kids through PICTURE THIS Projects.
